I am having an incredible time exploring the various bays, enclaves and areas of the island.

Phuket is famous for its beaches, but to be honest many of them are packed with tourists. Bang Tao (the beach in my neighborhood) has some incredible beach clubs, but feels a little like Miami: tourists and overpriced cocktails. Don’t get me wrong, all of the beaches are absolutely beautiful, but they can feel a little too commercialized.

So, I did what any adventure-loving traveler would do: I went off the beaten path.

Armed with a rented scooter, my trusty backpack, and Apple Maps (which, by the way, doesn’t always reveal every hidden spot), I followed the coastal roads beyond Surin and Kamala Beach—hoping to stumble upon something truly special.

And then, after an almost comical battle with some overgrown jungle paths, I found it.

A tiny, unnamed cove tucked away between rocky cliffs. A paradise untouched by mass tourism.
