Settling into life in Thailand, I reflect on my first impressions of this tropical, sometimes surreal new home.

Well, I'm finding my way. I'm settled into my new flat, I've found the best path to the ocean, I made it to a local temple, and I've eaten street food. Of all the places I have lived and traveled, maybe Thailand isn’t for beginners. Luckily, my community is well-planned (it almost gives a World Golf Village vibe or Disney resort). Still, you do see the occasional monitor lizard and some other things that raise an eyebrow.

My flat is gorgeous, tiny, but gorgeous. The views and the bathroom are my two favorite things. I’m on the top floor and for those of you who know me, you get it. The roof of the building has six different modern pools with planted trees on the edges and there is a jogging path around the perimeter of the buildings. I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s like interlocking tree houses.

I’m getting into my routine and I’ve found a great gym. Just a short walk (7 minutes) and I am outside of the planned Laguna development and it’s a bit more authentic - exciting. I leave the community daily to jog to the gym I joined. It's next-level (really nice) and seemingly filled with an interesting mix of expats and tourists. I’ve been eating paleo again and trying to get back into a healthy routine again.

*I’ve included a pic of the track on the roof of the interlocking buildings, one of the pools and that is my actual view from my living room.
